PMBS · PodMesh Backup Server
Back up files and verify their restoration.
PMBS captures quiesced files into a deduplicated store, verifies their chunks and reconstructs content in a staging location.
Your need
You want a file-backup path with explicit checks before making content available again.
Useful functions
Capture a prepared source
Files are quiesced before capture. The client then bounds processing size and duration.
Reduce stored duplicates
Identical chunks can be shared across backups within the same store.
Verify before restoring
Content is reconstructed and its digests checked before publication at the destination.
Availability and scope
Evaluation for regular-file content. Full permissions and metadata preservation is not guaranteed; PMBS does not test application boot. Remote copies and retention policy must be organised separately. PMBS is not compatible with the Proxmox Backup Server protocol.

Proxmox backup
Plan your Proxmox backup path.
Start from a finalised Proxmox export, evaluate storage with PMBS, then prepare reconstruction and reimport. Each step has a distinct role.

Organise content and retain its versions.
MeshFS is a content-addressed storage engine. It can reuse identical chunks and manage volumes and snapshots through an integration interface.
